On Sunday, October 15th , at the new Council Room of Olevano Sul Tusciano municipal building, took place a valuable Congress titled: Olevanoil Cosmetics: another goodness from olive oil, an occasion to present a great novelty, that is a new range of cosmetic products based on the olive oil of Olevano Sul Tusciano. Among the authorities attending the meeting there were: Adriano Ciancio, lawyer and Major of Olevano , prof Stefano Campioni, ANCI Delegate( National Association of Italian Municipalities), Dr. Corrado Martinangelo, Provincial Councillor Responsible for Farming, Dr. Antonino Verdoliva, Manager Ce.P.I.C.A., Regione Campania, Dr. Gianfranco Baldi, general manager at Cassa Rurale ed Artigiana B.C.C. in Battipaglia, Prof. Enrico Lupi, National President of “Città dell’Olio”. The lecturers were delivered by Prof. Rocco Alfredo Satriano, Associate University Professor at the “Seconda Università di Napoli”, about “Cosmetic Products and our skin”; Prof. Cosimo Pizza, Director of the Pharmacological Science Department at the University of Salerno, delivered a lecture about “The importance of oils and the qualities of the olive oil in cosmetology”; Dr.Cosimo Fasulo, specialist in Cosmetic Sciences and Technologies, closed the lecturer, introducing “OLEVANOIL COSMETICS: A new range of cosmetic products based on the olive oil of Olevano Sul Tusciano”.
We have asked Dr. Fasulo which could be the benefits for our skin from a range of cosmetics based on olive oil and why.<<The olive oil is not only a delight for the palate and health source because of its well-known therapeutic properties, but, as many ancient popular traditions have passed to us, it’s a great ally of natural beauty. Strongly compatible with the acidity of our skin, the extra-virgin olive oil, spread with compress or infusions, is very good for the protection of hair, to reinforce the nails, to soften and tone up the skin. Rich in precious substances such as squalene, phytosterol, tocopherol, the olive oil- Dr. Fasulo asserts- has a soothing and protective action for our skin, and thanks to particular fatty acids, important vitamins(A,E) and phenolic compounds, results as a deep anti-oxidant and anti free-radicals which damage our skin because of some climatic variations, such as smoke and smog.>>
Which are its main virtues? When cold-pressed, it’s rich in anti-oxidants, especially vitamin E, which prevents and reduces the wrinkles, protects and moisturizes the skin; vitamin F that is vital for the animal metabolism as a growth factor and it’s made of “good” fatty acids, as the linoleic and the arachidonic. The anti-oxidants, universally known as anti-aging factors, have a deep anti free-radicals action; the free-radicals are the cause of cellular variations and aging. A recent research from the USA, published on the magazine Cancerogenesis, gives the olive oil the important function of UVA-UVB filter, protective action to the skin, sometimes too exposed and subjected to dangerous damages, as skin cancer. Today the cosmetic science has taken possession of the simple “secrets” of our ancestors, for whom the importance of the olive oil for our skin was bigger than the nutritional function. Among the up-to-date cosmetics in use, there are body and face creams, shampoo, compress for dry hair, cleanser for sensitive and delicate skins.
The olives, coming from the Olevano Sul Tusciano hills, pressed when still green and unripe, give an oil that is rich in: linoleic acid, vitamins A and E, phenolic compounds which make it particularly indicated for the cosmetic formulations, so that we have decided to make a complete range of cosmetic products based on olive oil and extract from the olive trees of Olevano Sul Tusciano. The whole range will be sold at the best perfume shops in our country.>> |
